Triad Hydrophilic Wound Dressing is a zinc-oxide based hydrophilic paste that can be applied directly to wounds with light to moderate levels of drainage and is an excellent choice for odd shaped wound or wounds in areas that are difficult to dress.
Triad contains carboxymethyl cellulose (known as CMC). CMC has properties which allow it to adhere to wet, moist, or macerated skin. Triad also contains dimethicone to moisturize the peri-wound skin along with petrolatum and zinc oxide to reduce skin irritation.
Triad is occlusive, meaning it does not allow anything to pass through it. Triad is also hydrophilic, which means that it ‘loves’ moisture; the wound drainage spreads evenly across the wound surface, maximizing surface contact and creating a balanced environment. A moist wound environment facilitates autolytic debridement, where the body’s own enzymes break down necrotic tissue. CMC’s absorptive properties allows Triad to absorb low to moderate levels of wound exudate or broken-down tissue.
What is Triad Hydrophilic Wound Dressing made from?
Triad contains a blend of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), dimethicone, petrolatum, and zinc oxide.
How is Triad Hydrophilic Wound Dressing Used?
Cleanse the wound before applying Triad. Triad is designed for use on wet and irregular surfaces is often used by itself, no secondary dressing is required. Triad can be applied directly from the tube or by using a gloved finger. Gently spread Triad evenly over the area of over the affected area about the thickness of a dime. Triad may not always dry completely and some light staining on bed linens or garments might occur. To help prevent staining Triad is often covered with dry gauze or other absorbent dry dressing if needed. For deeper wounds, Triad is often worked in into dry gauze. The gauze is then shaped to fit within the wound bed, and loosely packed into the wound and areas of undermining or tunneling.
Always use our Advanced Wound Care products under the direction of a health care professional.

- absorbs light to moderate levels of wound fluid and debris
- moisturizes while protecting skin from irritation
- will not harm or damage healthy tissue
- protects wound from bacteria and other environmental contaminants
- promotes a moist healing environment to support autolytic debridement
- is specifically designed to support the body’s natural healing process
Which Wounds Can Benefit from Triad?
Triad can be used on partial and full-thickness wounds, including:
- pressure ulcers

- dermal lesions
- venous stasis ulcers
- moist skin

How to Remove Triad Hydrophilic Wound Dressing
- If in place, remove gauze or secondary dressing.
- Spray the wound and periwound with wound cleanser, then use gauze to gently wipe the area. To prevent trauma to fragile, healing tissues, do not use a rough or scrubbing motion.
- Repeat as needed until all paste has been removed.
To ensure complete removal of the paste, Triad should only be cleansed using a pH-balanced wound cleanser-not with saline.
